Thursday Routine
On Thursdays I pick up Lily from school so she can go straight to her ballet and tap/jazz class. I bring a snack for her to eat in the car, and her dance clothes to change into either in the car or the dressing room at the studio. Lately Claire has been coming along for the ride too.
Sometimes I go home and drive down to pick her up later at 6. Sometimes Kiel is able to pick her up on the way home from work. This time Claire and I stayed down in Bountiful to run some errands. This time we stopped in for a bite to eat at Cafe Rio and got her math homework done there. That was fun.
When we picked Lily up from dance she hopped in the car and cracked me up. She said, Mom this is what I wore to tap and jazz class! She was wearing the fur collar to her new warm jacket around her neck. (She had discovered earlier that day that it was removeable). I said, "Weren't you hot?" and "Your teacher was ok with that?" And she said she was a little hot, and that her teacher lets them wear whatever they want. It was so unexpected and funny.
Fall Colors
I love this time of year because of all the beautiful fall colors. Everytime I leave my house, even just to run errands, I love to stare at the trees and try to imprint their color on my memory...because I know too soon all the leaves will be gone and the trees will be bare.
Frightmares
Friday night we did a girls trip to Lagoon for Frightmares. Claire invited her friend Afton to go with us. We got there when it opened and went straight to the trick or treating. The girls got candy and prizes and were pretty excited about that. The fall colors were really pretty around the park, especially with the sun shining. Then we did some rides and ended with the bumper cars. We stayed for just a few hours because it got cold fast as the sun was setting.
Luke went camping with the scouts - his first overnight campout! I was worried about him being cold because we heard that there might be snow in the canyon. He was excited to go though. He came back at 9am all bundled up in his layers. He said it was cold and there was snow on the ground. And he said it was fun.

Things Everyone Likes
I thought it would be fun to write down what different things everyone is liking right now.
Luke: The video game Terreria, The Land of Stories Books, Harry Potter (re-reading while waiting for the last book in the Land of Stories series), listening to music while cleaning his room, and playing with friends (figuring out the hard way it's best not to make prank calls), being a good friend to his friend Tate who is undergoing cancer treatment now.
Claire: Descendants movies, playing with her Ever After High dolls, games on the kindle, doing her own hair for school and ballet, reading Ever After High or Amelia Bedelia, playing Four Square, playing with friends and riding her new bike yo get the mail.
Lily: Playing princess dolls with Claire, singing and dancing, Elephant and Piggie books, watching shows on Netflix, playing with Calico Critters and other toys, playing with Gwen, and eating and making herself pumpkin oatmeal.
Me: Knitting, reading Land of Stories like Luke, and other books, watching Sherlock and other mysteries on Netflix, going out to lunch with friends or taking naps while the kids are at school, and thinking about what to make for dinner...or where to go on a family vacation!
Dad: Working, working on the backyard, Tuesday movie nights with friends, or regular at home movie nights with us, relaxing on his computer, fixing things around the house, giving kids shoulder rides up the stairs for bed.

Now it's Fall
As much as summer will always be my favorite season, it feels nice to be heading into fall. The weather is cooler and we've had some cozy rainy days. The leaves haven't started changing yet, and I'm still hoping for some warm sunny fall days to come. It switched to cold pretty fast! I think it's because we started putting in our backyard and the universe decided it needed to start raining every other day.
The kids are into their school year for over a month now and doing well. Lily is in 1st grade and she's handled the transition to getting there in the morning and staying all day really well. The Spanish portion of the day is hard for her but she comes home happy and not too tired. She has her ballet and tap/jazz class on Thursdays and seems to have lots of energy for it.
Claire is in 4th grade and really likes her teacher Mrs Sipos. She has friends in her class and they've been having fun at recess playing 4 square or tag or whatever. She's learning songs about Utah and all about Utah this year. She has ballet classes twice a week - on Monday and Wednesday - and she started playing volleyball through Farmington City on Saturdays.
Luke is a big 6th grader this year! His last year of elementary school...it's hard to believe. He's doing great and having a good year so far. He's excited to be on CCN (Canyon Creek News) and goes to that before school on Thursdays. He's also doing drama club with Mr Midget and Mrs Soriano again which is after school on Thursdays. So Thursdays are his long days at school!
It's nice to be back in a routine, although sometimes it's tricky to get all the homework done. We had a string of pink eye the last two weeks so that knocked them out of going to school for a few days. First, Claire, then Lily, then Luke! But they also had their annual well checks with Dr Judd at about the same time and we're so fortunate that they're healthy, strong, growing kids!

Easter Sunday
I love my beautiful kids! Luke is 10, Claire is 8, and Lily is 5.... but all not for much longer! They're getting so big and grown up. I am so happy and proud to see the good kids they are becoming. They are polite, fun, funny, and sweet and loving. I feel like a lucky mom to have all 3 of them. They are my very favorite people to be around!
